Join me on a journey to discover the majestic Bearded Vulture, the largest nesting bird of prey in the Alps.
A close encounter with one of the most fascinating and iconic species of the high mountains.
Hunted to extinction in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century, the bearded vulture — also known as the lammergeier or “lamb vulture” — has returned to nest in the Alps thanks to important reintroduction programmes.
Today, Gran Paradiso National Park is home to one of the most significant concentrations of nesting pairs of this species: currently five pairs are recorded.
During the workshop, we shall reach a strategic vantage point, ideal for observing and photographing this extraordinary bird of prey in its natural habitat. A unique opportunity to capture it in flight against the great alpine rock faces, whilst gaining a deeper understanding of its ecology and its remarkable return to the mountains.
