Daily wildlife photography outing in the Ticino Valley Natural Park
With the arrival of summer, the Ticino River fills with colors and life. Its sandy banks provide shelter to the most colorful and lively bird observable in Europe: the European bee-eater. Bright and acrobatic, the bee-eater migrates from Africa to Europe to breed, forming large colonies along the banks of the Ticino River.
During the outing, we will dedicate the morning/afternoon to observing and photographing them, admiring their colors and watching their courtship rituals.
The evening before the outing, there will be an online video call during which the day’s program will be explained and the basics of wildlife photography introduced, along with principles of ethics and respect for the species observed.
The Monday following the outing, a second video call is scheduled for reviewing the shots and a post- production session.
The experience is open to photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.
Technical details:
Clothing: camouflage or greenish-brown tones are recommended; long pantsand boots are advised as we will be moving through tall grass. A hat is recommended since the area where we will observe the bee-eaters is always exposed to the sun. Use of mosquito repellent spray is
advisable.
Photography equipment: a camera with a lens of 300mm or greater is recommended; tripod optional at participant’s discretion.
